E-mail Confusion

Q: I run Outlook Express, and for some reason, I’m no longer able to send e-mail messages to myself. The messages get sent successfully, but they never show up in my Inbox. This used to work before, and I was wondering where the messages are going?

A: First of all, some of you may be wondering why you would ever want to send yourself e-mail. No, this isn’t just for lonely people who have no one else to talk to. For one thing, it’s a good way to check and make sure that your e-mail settings are correct and that messages are getting properly delivered. On the other hand, I have multiple computers around the house. If I have a file that I need to work on using another computer, I’ll just fire an e-mail off with the attachment to myself and retrieve it on the other computer. This method is a bit quicker than putting the file on a disc or uploading it to a server.

As for your question, this same thing happened to me in Outlook Express some time ago. Instead of the messages to myself appearing in my Inbox, they were being sent directly to the Deleted Items folder. I didn’t even think about checking there initially. Test this process out again and see if that’s where your messages have been playing hide and go seek.
