Create A New Caption Label In Word (Word 2002/2003)

You can use captions in Word documents to label figures, tables, slides, and so on. A caption is a label for an item that consists of two parts: the label you select (such as Figure or Table) and a number inserted by Word.

By default, when you use the Caption feature, you can select from three different labels that include: Figure, Table, or Equation. You do have the option of creating a new label for your captions if none of these are appropriate.

To create a new caption label, click Insert, point to Reference, and click Caption. Click New Label. In the New Label dialog box, type in the new for the label you want. Click OK. Your new label should now appear in the list of available labels. Once you can complete, click Close.
