Screensaver Asking For A Password?

Here’s a pretty common Windows question: what do you need to modify so that your screensaver doesn’t automatically prompt you for a password each time you want to go back to using your computer after it’s kicked off? And, for that matter, how do you fix it if the screensaver starts up way too fast, just minutes after you stop using your computer? Both are answered here.

Right-click on your desktop and choose Personalization from the right-click menu. At the bottom of the Personalization control panel is a link for Screen Saver. Click this link to bring up the Windows Screen Saver Settings. To turn off the screensaver password, you simply need to uncheck the box next to On resume, display logon screen.

Configuring your Windows screensaver time to wait before turning on is also configurable on this screen. The default is typically one minute, which can be too short. Increase this to a more reasonable time for your needs.

The solution is simple, but if you don’t know how to modify it, this kind of thing can definitely drive you crazy!
