Enhanced Bookmark Search

How many bookmarks do you have? Do you have so many that finding one is a three hour task you do not want to tackle? Ok, maybe three hours might be a little long, but you get my idea. Some of us have way too many bookmarks and not enough time to find what we are looking for. We need an enhanced bookmark search. Funny enough, I just ran across an extension that has that very name.

Here is what the developer of Enhanced Bookmark Search has to say about it.

You can search by title, location, description or keyword including more subsets like (contains, starts/ends with, is/is not, doesn’t contain). This extension also adds a menu option under the main browser bookmarks menu called “Search Bookmarks”.

You also get a toolbar button (menu type) to the bookmarks window and an optional toolbar button to browser window. Middle clicking the button will open bookmarks manager. Also included is the reactivated ability to save searches (utilizes Mozilla’s little known feature called SmartFind see description below). SmartFind bookmarks are bookmarks which act like a folder (sort of like Livemarks). They contain (well, a reference to bookmarks which match your search criteria). Once added they dynamically update with your results.

As you can see, this would come in very handy for folks that have too many bookmarks. Some people out there just go bookmarking crazy, and this extension is for them. Not sure if it is right for you? Check out some of the screenshots of it in action.

This Firefox extension is for versions .8 and up of the browser. If you want to download it and try it out for yourself, you can do so at the Mozilla Update Web site.
