Cartel Featured As Xbox Live July “Artist Of The Month”

Already an online phenomenon and well on their way to achieving mainstream success, Cartel, the pop-punk band from Atlanta, will be featured as the Xbox Live Artist of the Month for July. “Honestly,” the band’s hit single off Chroma, their debut album with Epic Records, is currently ranked in the top 10 on both MTV2’s Rock Countdown and AOL’s Alternative/Rock Tracks Chart.

There are numerous rewards for Xbox Live members, including a free version of the band’s latest video for “Honestly,” a chance to play Cartel over Xbox Live as part of the “Game with Fame” program in Halo 2 as well as a chance to win their new CD Chroma and an Xbox 360.

“From the beginning, we have received a tremendous amount of attention within the online community,” singer Will Pugh said. “Being the Xbox Live ‘Artist of the Month’ is a huge step for us to continue our online success and hopefully show our fans that we can game as well as put out hits.”

Earlier this year, Cartel solidified their already-heavy online presence by garnering promotional slots on Yahoo! Music, AOL Music and Clear Channel Online. The band received over one million streams on and more than 50,000 plays in a single day on Cartel’s song “Say Anything (Else)” will be featured on the Madden NFL 07 video game soundtrack. The band is also part of the 2006 Warped Tour lineup.

The Xbox Live Artist of the Month program gives Xbox Live members the unique opportunity to access free exclusive entertainment content in high definition on their Xbox 360 from some of today’s hottest stars. As part of the year long agreement with Epic Records, each month a new artist will be showcased on Xbox Live, where you can download their videos as well as get a chance to go online and chat and play against them in their favorite game. Previous Xbox Live Artist of the Month artists includes Natasha Bedingfield, The Fray and Matisyahu.
