Weekend 5 Access 0

I just got back from a five day weekend at the beach with no Internet access whatsoever. No PC. No Mac. No hotel wi-fi. No Internet-connected cell phone. No Internet cafe. Nothing. Nada. Zilch. So what’s the worst thing about coming back from a long relaxing weekend without Internet access?

Forget about paying the bills …

I dreaded to see my inbox. I figured that I’d be drowning in email. My email service provider has been giving me fits again, with missing emails and an overabundance of error messages. So I turned off their automatic spam filtering last week to see if that might clear things up. I had expected an explosion of incoming spam, but that hasn’t been the case.

Boy, was I surprised.

I only had 414 pieces of mail in my inbox. It seems that everyone else was on vacation this weekend … even the spammers.

MailWasher pegged nearly 170 emails as being possible spam. I took ten minutes to sift through the mess and ended up deleting 159 pieces in one fell swoop. That left 255 emails to wade through … not a suitable task for weary eyes. I’ll deal with it in the morning.

Going without Internet access for the weekend did the trick. It was definitely de-stressing (rather than distressing).
