What Is Virtual Linux?

There should be an image here!Earlier this month, I had written a piece in which I spelled out what Virtual Linux is and how it works in our day to day lives. What was interesting during this process, is how I found myself realizing that Virtual Linux means different things to different people.

For instance, to a home based user, virtual Linux is basically nothing more than an instance of Linux installed on Virtual Box or VmWare. While to a webmaster, it could be VPS server running Red Hat and hosting their website.

It’s rather wild, as it further clarified for me personally why there really cannot be a singular Wiki entry to trying to describe what it actually is. I mean, it wasn’t all that long ago that we deemed virtual Linux as a Knoppix CD, running on our computers. Today, it’s hosting a variety of server based solutions for various aspects of the enterprise users out there.
