The Danger of Baby Slings

I am posting this and asking a favour from the Lockergnome readers. In all the years that I have put articles on Chris’ Lockergnome space, I have never made such a request. I would like you to look at this article and see if anyone on your email contact list may be using one of these baby slings for their infant. If you think that they might be, please copy and paste the article, or the URL to the article, and send it to them. Consider it your good deed for the day – and I do thank you.

These baby slings are immensely popular in this community. Parents use them when they go to the supermarkets, coffee shops, shopping malls – and they have been deemed dangerous:

More than one million baby slings made by San Diego-based company Infantino are being recalled in Canada and the U.S. after the products were linked to three infant deaths in 2009.

The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) said babies could suffocate in the soft fabric slings. The agency is urging parents to immediately stop using the slings for babies younger than four months of age.

Parents are so busy with their toddlers that often such important news is missed. And this news item, and your alerting someone, may help prevent a tragedy.
