Time travel has been a well-represented staple of science fiction — from the days of H.G. Wells to Doctor Who to Star Trek and beyond — but is there any machine to do so that’s as stylish as Dr. Emmett “Doc” Brown’s DeLorean from the Back to the Future trilogy?
And is there any toy as capable of captivating developing minds of all ages as the LEGO brick? Here, we get to mix the best of both worlds with the Back to the Future LEGO DeLorean! Sure, assembly’s required, but isn’t that most of the fun? Time will fly as you piece it together — as seen here when Chris Pirillo was assembling his!
This LEGO-faithful facsimile of Doc Brown’s souped-up DMC-12 (better known by most simply as the “DeLorean” as it was produced by the DeLorean Motor Company in the ’80s) doesn’t run on plutonium (hard to get) or garbage (stinky!). The flux capacitor in this Back to the Future LEGO DeLorean gets its requisite 1.21 gigawatts on the pure power of your imagination — plus it looks pretty dandy on your shelf once it’s done!
Here’s what you can expect from this very detailed set:
- It’s got opening gull-wing doors, a flux capacitor, fold-up wheels, and license plates.
- It’s got an extra engine and wheels.
- It measures 2″ x 5″ x 3″.
- It comes with Doc Brown and Marty McFly (with skateboard!) minifigs.
- It comes with complete building instructions and Back to the Future information.
Back to the Future LEGO DeLorean is Made for Back to the Future and DeLorean Fans, Alike
The Back to the Future LEGO DeLorean is a great model for anyone who is a fan of the Back To The Future trilogy of movies or is an admirer of the quirky-looking DeLorean automobile. Maybe you’re like me and you have a soft spot for both. I have seen a DeLorean in person and I must say it is a beautiful car. You can pay a pretty penny for the real deal, or you can build your own in LEGO bricks as the next best thing.
