Consistent formatting helps to make a document more professional looking. Consistent formatting includes using the same number of spaces between sentences. If you begin your document using a single space between sentences, you should not start using two spaces half way through the document.
You can configure Word to ensure consistent formatting between sentences. From the Tools menu, click Options and select the Spelling & Grammar tab. Under the Grammar section, click the Settings button. Under the Required section, select the drop down arrow beside Spaces required between sentences and select either one or two spaces. Click OK to close the Grammar Settings window. Click OK to close the Options window.
