Need a better way to manage files and programs on your desktop? From what I have seen, people either have really busy desktops with icons everywhere or a clean desktop with nothing to be seen. I think both of these types of desktops could find a nice balance with SideSlide.

So what is this freeware program all about? The developer writes:

SideSlide is an advanced, dockable, highly configurable desktop extension on steroids! Dock SideSlide at any corner of the screen; keep shortcuts to files, folders and URLs you frequently visit; add multiple notes, multiple, sizable, pictures, schedule reminders, save Web snippets, and more… customize it to emphasize the things you use the most and make more information accessible without occupying precious screen space.

By using containers you can shrink and fold, linking containers to actual folders on disk, launch groups that allow you to start multiple programs at once, zooming in and out of shortcuts, different colors, different size pictures, picture containers and colored notes; SideSlide is designed to make a great deal of content instantly accessible.

SideSlide makes organizing your day to day desktop activity so much easier. The only complaint that I would have is that right out of the box, it is not the prettiest program to look at. It is totally free though, so you have no reason not to give it a shot.
