So you think you have invented a bigger and better mouse trap – but has anyone filed a patent for what you think is a great idea?

You can now search through over seven million patents that have been filed with the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office since the 1790s. This new service from Google (in beta form) takes advantage of its proprietary algorithms and technology used in the company’s book search service. Also included in the patent search are diagrams of the patented products.

In addition, the site includes an advanced search option as well as a help menu to assist you in finding what you are looking for.

So if you need patent information quickly, give this new Google search engine a try. It can be found here.
