I’m sitting here, listening to Christmas music on my newly-connected digital cable box, wondering what I should be writing about tonight… and suddenly, I get a note from my favorite music subscription service, URGE (from MTV):
This week we are pleased to announce the secret to holiday cheer. It’s around this time of year that most of us start to grin like we really mean it. Chances are, right now, deep down, you’re feeling kind of jolly (mixed with the dread of seeing your uncle with the strange mole). Whether you believe in the word of the prophet or you’re here to make a profit, Christmas spirit has a power all its own. Even if you prefer your tradition non-traditional, you’ve got to admit, there’s something reassuring about the continuity of it all. Regardless of what the weatherman says or the stock market does, the holidays never take a year off. The holidays do not go on strike. They are not rained out. They have never been postponed. And they are the only time of year when nearly everything we buy is for someone other than ourselves.
I’m telling you – I love listening to this music. It’s the only thing that’s seeing me through the stress. Have you thought about getting some kind of music subscription for your friends or family? Microsoft passed me a Zune for giving them a bit of feedback the other day (I haven’t had time to do more than charge it at this point). Yes, I’m still waiting to squirt my first Zune tune!
