I often find myself wishing I had a program handy, but my arm is a little less than motivated to make it all the way down to the start menu, hunt it down and start it up. Maybe I have gotten a little lazy. I would like to have quick and easy access to important applications and folders right there on my desktop. Maybe have them stick out of the sides like tabs. Yes, that would be awesome.
After doing a little hunting on how I could do something like this, I ran across the freeware application called Stick. This program was designed to give you access to commonly needed data no matter which application you’re using at the time. Perfect, just what I was looking for.
Stick’s solution is to use ScreenTabs, or tabbed windows that attach themselves to the edge of your screen. They are highly customizable and therefore easy to identify. The types of tasks you can perform include things like taking notes, browsing the web, navigating your hard drive, downloading RSS feeds and looking at a calendar.
So how much does this program cost? It is totally free. Some of the tabs included with the program are: an Explorer Tab, Note Tab, Internet Tab, Tab Manager, Quick Launcher, Calendar Tab and an RSS Feed Reader.
This is one of the most handy programs I have found in some time now. It seems to do a little ‘bit of everything. Pick it up, give it a shot and let me know what you think.
