The FDA is warning consumers about the dangers of buying isotretinoin (Accutane, Amnesteem, Claravis, and Sotret) online. Isotretinoin is a drug for the treatment of severe acne (recalcitrant nodular).

When improperly used, isotretinoin can cause severe side effects, including birth defects. Serious mental health problems have also been reported with isotretinoin use.

Isotretinoin is a potentially dangerous prescription medicine that should only be taken under the close supervision of your healthcare professional and pharmacist. If you are pregnant or may get pregnant, isotretinoin can cause birth defects, miscarriage, premature births, and death in babies.
