I have said it before: The simple programs are sometimes the best. Looking at different alarm applications out there, it was hard to find one I liked. They all seemed to be tied into another program or were too feature rich for my liking. I just needed on thing done and done well – is that too much to ask? Then I found the freeware application named, simply, Alarm.

Here are some more details about Alarm from the developers:

Alarm is a digital alarm clock that you can set to display a message and play a sound or music file (.mp3, .wav or .mid) at a time of your choice. The alarm message can be displayed in a small pop up window, or in full screen mode which cannot be overlooked. The program offers a configurable snooze timer and customizable LED colors for the time display.

As you can see, it makes a great replacement for your desktop alarm clock. You also don’t lose any of the form or functionality of your old reliable clock alarm. Now the only downside that I can find is that this means I am going to have to leave my PC on all night long if I want it to wake me up in the morning. That is not the only helpful alarm time though.

I do my contracted work for a few Web companies out there till a certain time of the day. Sometimes I get too busy with work and I forget what time it is. Now I could have this beautiful little program wake me from my working ways and let me know it is time to call it a day.
