Looking for a way to spice up your e-mail messages? Microsoft Word includes several different themes that you can use in your messages. The themes automatically format the fonts, background colors, borders, and so on.

You can add a theme to a document by completing the steps below:

  1. Open a blank document.
  2. From the Format menu, click Theme.
  3. Under Choose a theme, click a theme to see a sample.
  4. Click the box beside the Active Colors option to brighten the colors.
  5. Click the box beside the Active Graphics option if you want to display the document as a Web page.
  6. Click the box beside the Background Image option to set the background of the selected theme as the background for the document.
  7. Click OK.

Your document will now assume the formatting of the theme you selected. You can now send the document as an e-mail. From the File menu, point to Sent To, and click Mail Recipient.
