According to a recent report from Mashable, MySpace Phishing continues to be a problem. How bad is it? The Firefox anti-phishing filter did not alert me when I happened upon one, which really got me thinking. Even with all of the hype behind browser integrated phishing protection as it has obviously, been less than successful.
Below are two examples you might find interesting.
- IE7- As of March 20th, this bug was still working and could trap an IE user relatively easily. Once this page is loaded, go to the same address bar, then type in google.com.
- Firefox- Also not off the hook, Firefox also has a similar problem as outlined here and can be dealt out to even the most savvy Firefox user.

How to protect yourself:
I don’t care whether you are using IE7 or Firefox, make darn sure you are running the Netcraft toolbar. I realize that not everyone is a big fan of toolbars in their entirety, but in this case it could save you a LOT of headaches. In addition, I would suggest using OpenDNS to further protect you against most phishing efforts.
