LimeWire has been known as a peer to peer network for sharing media. For years, it has been accused of piracy and preventing artists from profiting from their work. Now there are plans for LimeWire to go mainstream and to have a store:

“…LimeWire now hopes to make a name for itself as a legitimate music download store. Initially the store will be a stand-alone website, also accessible from links in the file-sharing software. Future versions will allow users to browse and purchase music directly from within the LimeWire program.”

LimeWire will have to convince its visitors to spend for content. As LimeWire itself knows well, it is really difficult to compete against “free”.
