I read today that too much exercise might actually increase your risk of high blood pressure and heart failure. As a general rule it has been thought that exercise is good for cardiovascular health.

Well the rats in the study were grouped into those with wheels in their cage and those without a wheel. The ones with wheels exercised excessively, they were found to change their heart structure and reduce blood flow. This would be very bad for anyone including those with high blood pressure. It was determined that the rats just exercised too much.

The heart is an amazing thing when you consider how it works. There is no power source, it just keeps going. What makes it pump? Does it have a certain number of beats for its lifetime? I suppose if the number of beats was finite, exercise might “use up” some of those earlier than normal.
