For search engine marketing firm, Anvil Media’s quarterly field trip, we ventured to Paddy’s Bar & Grill in downtown Portland Oregon for a whiskey tasting. Proprietor Gregg Schillinger took us through the Irish whiskey & scotch distillation process, and we sampled 8 bottles of scotch, whiskey & bourbon from around the world. The flavors ranged from rancid to smooth, and prices $15 a bottle to over $800. I have massive amounts of respect for Gregg, who’s grown Paddys spirits collection on “The Wall” to the largest in Oregon. His entertaining and informative style is a special treat, and makes the hour or so fly by. With over 250 bottles of whiskey, scotch and bourbon to choose from, Gregg enjoys trying new flavors himself. I highly recommend visiting Paddy’s Irish Pub for a private tasting and a sampling of spirits from The Wall.
In the picture below, Anvil team member Jeremy drinks a compilation of everyone else’s discarded whiskey samples in one fell swoop, earning $20 on a co-worker’s dare.
