Just a quick note:
Microsoft has released an advanced notification on the next bunch of patches to released on Tuesday, September 11, 2007 which they describe as being 1 critical and 4 important releases. You can read the Microsoft Security Bulletin from here.
Which brings up another bit of advice for you auto patch people who have their systems set to get all the patches and install them automatically. I personally set my systems to ‘Download Updates For Me, But Let Me Choose When To Install Them’. Another option is to be notified of the updates only.
I normally do this for two reasons. First, most of the updates usually require a reboot to take place after the updates are installed. Second, I usually wait a few days after the updates are released to make sure nobody is reporting any problems with the fixes before installing them. 🙂
What do you do? Recommendations are welcome.
