You read stories like this and find yourself wondering – could there be some real truth to how dependent we are on networked power grids? At one time, I was led to believe that they were each fairly compartmentalized, but after reading articles like the one linked above, it sure puts things into a tailspin of doubt. So knowing that it is in fact not impossible, be it potentially an unlikely scenario, news like this really puts a damper on anyone’s day.
I guess another way to look at it would be that we are finally going to see something done about this kind of exploit, right? Well, it seems that this is not really ‘new’ news. This has been known for roughly a year now. Fantastic, so our infrastructure security remains a vulnerable and we are using state DMV speed to deal with it. Wow, do we ever learn or are we simple begging for trouble here?
