Recently I’ve been reading that music is being marketed on USB flash drives. I’m not convinced this is such a good concept. Obviously most people would have to plug them into their computer to play them. However I also was reading that car audio systems will be having a jack for them. I assume mp3 players would also have USB jacks.
While being able to plug a flash drive with music into car audio or an mp3 player is a good concept. Going into a store and buying a flash drive loaded with an album is a step backwards in technology. I have enough problems keeping my CD’s in order (and they are stackable). I envision a pile of flash drive albums getting scattered all around the house and car. Due to their small size, I question how they will be labeled. Gone are the days of the huge vinyl album covers, they shrunk for CD. I don’t think we can shrink a CD label small enough to be usable on a flash drive.
This is going to be an interesting marketing concept to watch.
