From 2004 until April of this year Verizon terminated the accounts of some 13,000  “unlimited” wireless internet users for excessive usage ie: streaming audio, video etc.

Yesterday Verizon reached a settlement agreement with the New York Attorney Generals Office. Verizon admitted their unlimited plans were actually limited. It cost Verizon one million dollars to reimburse terminated users as well as $150,000 penalties and costs to the New York Attorney General. Additionally Verizon no longer prohibits common internet usage. (how ever that is defined)

This might be catch the attention of some of the other ISP’s and make them reconsider some of their practices. Time will tell.
