So where are these legitimate work at home jobs then?
To help you along, I have taken the liberty of putting together a list of legitimate work at home companies. In this case, they are listed in groups. In today’s post, we will be talking about legitimate work at home jobs at call centers.
Call center work:
- Alpine Access- Agent requirements required include being over 18, motivation, pleasant phone presence, a quiet working environment, A Windows based PC, broadband Internet, a corded headset and to go for a background check – you will pay $35 for this, but this is no different that paying for one when renting an apartment.
- Arise: Same as above, for the most part.
- Convergys- Again, same as above.
- LiveOps- Yet again, same qualifiers.
- VirtuServe- Not just customer service and tech support, you may find more restrictive hours and having to do telemarketing.
- VIPDesk- Working as an agent with these guys will also mean working as a virtual concierge and customer service rep.
Specialized:
- Staffcentrix- After doing a bit more digging, it appears that they do indeed help out those spouses who have loved ones in the military, who wish to work from home. It’s a pretty cool niche, although it does appear not everyone is going to qualify.
Things to consider.
- If you have stay at home kids, the office space had better be uninterrupted and sound proof. None of these agencies will tolerate disturbances of this kind whatsoever.
- You will have to fork over between $30-40 USD for a background check/application fee. This is normal and to be expected.
- Expect plenty of competition, especially with the coming recession. Remember that you will be judged heavily on how you hand any testing and phone interviews. So be on your toes, eat a good meal first and be at your best.

For those of you with skills in PC Repair work, web design, marketing, help with blogging (adsense) copy writing, etc – consider the freelance websites available out there. With a little luck and some looking, you will find freelancing to be both profitable and in sketchy times head, easier to find that actual full time employment. This is especially true for those looking to get into remote computer repair work. Just takes a little searching to find the best match out there. It may not be as cool as being paid to drive your car, but it is not half bad.
