As an ex-employee of Starbucks Coffee, I have tasted just about every drink in the lineup at least once. When I stopped working for Starbucks Coffee, I was still an addict to my daily cup of coffee. I came up with drinks that fit my college budget — but still gave me the satisfaction of a “Starbuck’s fix”.
A Vanilla Misto – gives the taste of a latte, for a little more than the price of a cup of coffee. The difference between this and a latte? A misto is made of half coffee and half steamed milk, while a latte has espresso and a lot more steamed milk. Try substituting a different flavor of syrup (or skip the syrup all together).
- A Vanilla Iced Coffee – gives the taste of an iced latte, but for almost half the price! Again, the difference is coffee instead of espresso. Try adding a little heavy cream or half and half for an extra boost.
- A Hot Chocolate with a shot of espresso – Gives the taste of a Mocha — but for about a dollar less. Starbucks hot chocolate also has vanilla syrup in it — so it will be a little sweeter than a mocha.
Sadly — there is no real way around the iced tea lemonade drinks (unless you get an employee who does not charge you for the lemonade version) or the blended drinks. Those are fairly expensive and difficult to get at a reduced price.
