Really, it is his birthday today. – Steve Nash, the Phoenix Suns guard, is thirty four (34) today. By most standards, Steve Nash is a young man. In NBA terms, however, thirty four years of age is approaching senior citizen status. And the Phoenix Suns management knows that.
At thirty four, Steve Nash still is touted as one of the best guards in the professional game. He is not far removed from having being the league’s Most Valuable Player (MVP) – twice. The glaring omission from Steve Nash’s glowing NBA resume is a championship. With loads of miles on his legs and a problematic back, the window of opportunity for a championship will remain available for only a few more seasons. Remove Steve Nash for the Phoenix Suns’ offensive attack and the Phoenix game would not look or be the same.
Perhaps the Phoenix Suns management took this into account when they made the trade for Shaquille O’Neal. Both Steve Nash and Shaquille O’Neal need to win now, if they are to add a Phoenix Suns championship to their record. Another Phoenix Suns starter, Grant Hill, is the same age as Shaquille O’Neal, although he has played far less due to injuries.
So, Happy Birthday, Steve Nash… the Phoenix Suns have a big (seven foot one inch), expensive present for you.
