The new Macbook Air may have some competition. The Lenovo Thinkpad X300 is the newest thin book on the market. It seems like Lenovo was all about the features on this one. Although neither is thin on the wallet each have there ups and downs. The X300 is a bit thicker, but not by much. The x300 has many more capabilities then the Air. the x300 has 3 USB ports against the Air’s 1 port. With the Air you have to buy the external super drive if you want to play CD’s/DVD’s but the x300 has a DVD drive built in. They do have the same screen size but the x300 has a higher screen resolution. All these features cause the battery to have a shorter life span then the Air, so if you choose those features you are sacrificing your battery. Of course there are different configurations available to suit your taste, but making each computer with similar specs will run you about the same cost, give or take a few dollars. Personally I haven’t had experience with either laptop, but have heard problems about each. I have heard about the Air having hard drive and connectivity problems, along with crashes. As far as the X300 goes the only complaints I have heard are steep prices and complaints about the SSD only holding 64 GB. If customers do choose the X300 they will be stuck with Vista or XP. I’m not saying thats a bad thing, but personally I think OS X has so much more going for it. So to all those shoppers out there, I will say good luck and hopefully you are happy with whatever you choose.
