All of us at Google spend much of our time working inside a browser. We search, chat, email and collaborate in a browser. And in our spare time, we shop, bank, read news and keep in touch with friends — all using a browser. Because we spend so much time online, we began seriously thinking about what kind of browser could exist if we started from scratch and built on the best elements out there.

It is not only the folks at Google who spend most of their computing time online.  For most of us who surf the Internet on a daily bases, all we really need is a browser.  So why would Google come up with their own browser?

I believe the answer is fairly simple. Google has in place a number of applications for simple computing needs like word processing, spread sheets and so forth. Most everything else we need to email, chat and so forth are already in place. So now with a Google browser, we can throw our computers as we know them in the trash.

There will come a day when we will  just use a browser, and no operating system, to boot up our computers and access the Internet to do our work and to play. 🙂
