Missing the post season playoffs must rankle the New York Yankees. Earlier this week, the Yankees agrees to a seven year contract with C.C. Sabathia. The cost was $161 millions dollars. However, that was not all the spending for the week on the pitching staff. Today, the New York Yankees added A.J. Burnett:
“Free agent right-hander A.J. Burnett has reached preliminary agreement on a five-year, $82.5 million contract with the New York Yankees.
Burnett’s agreement was confirmed by the office of his agent, Darek Braunecker, The Associated Press reported.”

The mathematics is rather daunting. For two pitchers, the Yankees have made a 243.5 million dollar commitment. – Recession? What recession?!
