When I first discovered the Neuros LINK, I will admit that I was a bit skeptical. I was interested to see a viable alternative to Boxee, as Hulu recently gave them the boot. So I went in with an open mind. And bear in mind I am already an Ubuntu user, so I have no gripes about their choice of platform being Linux.

Unfortunately, their is a lack of integration with the Neuros.TV side of things. While the hardware looks usable enough, all Neuros.TV appears to be is a scrapping tool for IPTV content coming from other sources. And that is fine, until you are brought to Youtube low-def content or worse, ABC.com which is notoriously anti-Linux with their media Flash media player while Hulu, amongst others do just fine. Then to make matters worse, Popcorn Hour strikes me as a more “integrated value” overall and it is ready to go today.

To be fair though, this is still an alpha product. And so I can overlook a lot of issues. But my advice to them is if they want the LINK to be taken seriously, esspecially for the asking price, consider at least utilizing WINE to ensure that ABC.com is working as people such as my wife will never touch this product until they do. The improved integration, I assume will come later…
