Is Google presenting a problem for competition as we know it? The US Government seems to think so. But despite this, Google is taking a very calm approach on how they are choosing to deal with this situation. As things stand now, it looks like they will likely continue to find common ground with the US Government, being as Google seems to think that they have gone out of their way to be cooperative on all levels.
Speaking as a user of Google’s services, I for one would be more concerned about how Google handles privacy issues than the company potentially becoming something of a monopoly.
Regardless the fact of the matter is that Google remains the king of search, even though there have been some valiant attempts at restarting a sense of competition. And even though I like Google for search, I would have no problem with seeing Bing, Yahoo or Ask dethroning Google if the search results were anywhere near as on target. Thus far, the best hope for that appears to be with Bing and it is still a ways off.
