From Bright Side of News, revealed is the fact that, though they have no motherboards to accompany them, the Intel i5 (codename Lynnfield) processors are available now. This has been confirmed to be inside the brick and mortars, as well as online.

The first processors are the i5 750’s and are on sale for $205. The Bright website has a picture of the ad that appears online, with their notes that it specifies that the LGA 1156 processor uses triple channel memory, which is not correct.

This should mean that with the wraps off, sites like AnandTech will get on with the business of benchmarking these new processors, which they already have, but have been held silent by NDAs.

It will be interesting to see how the new Phenom II X4 965 stacks up, and if it doesn’t quite meet the specs of this new Intel challenger, how much the street price of the AMD chip will decline.

It’s a win-win for consumer’s, you will either get a great deal on the best AMD processor in a long time, or an even better one on a close second, at a price previously unknown for that level of performance.

By the way, for those who really want the Intel solution, the motherboards to take the chips are rumored to be at Fry’s next week, well ahead of the September 1 official launch date.
