HP is introducing their new Dreamsceen computer which as of this writing, is currently not available. But over at Best Buy they have some information on what the HP Dreamscreen is going to be, but more importantly what it is not going to be. It is not going to be enabled with touch screen technology, and also appears to be an Internet device. By this I mean it is not a full fledged computer running software in the traditional sense.

Which makes me ask, I don’t get it, do you?

What I don’t get is what use will this device have for consumers? Is it a toy or what? We don’t know what the price will be, but I can imagine it will not be cheap. In a .pdf description of the new product, HP states that this device is a:

Smart connections to Facebook, Snapfish & more
– The HP DreamScreen is a gateway to the Internet using your wireless network to access weather info, Snapfish and your favorite web destinations.
– Stay current with social network sites like Facebook to keepup with your friends’ photos, status updates & upcoming events.
– Stream music & photos from your PC wirelessly to the HP DreamScreen
– Listen to internet radio from Pandora or HP SmartRadio.
– Be organized with a built-in alarm clock & calendar.

What do you think? Is this something you would buy?

Comments welcome.
