Honestly beyond me how Facebook manages to find profitability. Perhaps it has something to do with throwing crap ads at a captive audience…who knows? The one thing that is clear is that unlike so many other social networks, Facebook is clearly doing pretty darn well.
The best news Facebook is seeing at the moment is the strong audience growth. This network is no longer some geeky thing to be used by college students. No, I think there is a real influx of tired and frustrated MySpace users who are just tired of the HTML madness of layouts gone wild.
Assuming Facebook can hang on to what is working for the, profitability appears to be a clear thing for their future. But mark my words, these are tedious times. As soon as Microsoft, or others begin to realize that the return they are seeing for the ad dollars is questionable at best, heads are likely to roll.
