Amazon UK has announced that pre-orders for Windows 7 have set the record for biggest pre-orders ever, even beating out Harry Potter. According to Amazon UK, Windows 7 pre-orders — in the first 8 hours — beat out the number of Vista sold during the entire pre-order process.
A recent article also states:
“The launch of Windows 7 has superseded everyone’s expectations, storming ahead of Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows as the biggest grossing pre-order product of all-time at Amazon.co.uk, and demand is still going strong,” says Brian McBride, Amazon UK MD.
“Over the past three months, only Dan Brown’s The Lost Symbol has sold more copies than Windows 7, which is an incredible achievement for a software product.”
And going head to head with Dan Brown’s latest dyslexic outpourings, surely this time no one can argue that a Microsoft product is far better written than the competition.
Once all of these copies are used to upgrade older computers, it will be interesting to see how consumers respond to the new operating system. So far most of the reactions to Windows 7 have been positive.
Comments, as always, are welcome.
