Boy, things are sure looking good for Microsoft and Yahoo to get down to business with their newly founded partnership. And with the Canadian and Australian governments on board with it now, we are likely going to see things with the two search giants moving faster than they have thus far.
So what does it all really mean? Basically, Microsoft’s Bing would power Yahoo’s web search. This leaves Yahoo to continue forward with their Overture ad sales, which is obviously an area that Yahoo was already ahead of Microsoft in the first place.
But despite all of this, I am still not seeing any evidence that this is actually going to do anything to help either company catch up to Google. Perhaps it is possible, but the results I have seen thus far is simply a lot of grand standing without much proof of ability.
