Finally, someone from one of the Twitter camps making sense and setting up a real business model. No longer will Twitter in that region be like its US counterpart, powered by BS and VC money.
But at the same time, the question is whether or not something like this would ever be tolerated here in the States? It is debatable at best, unlikely at worst. But does this mean that a payment model is impossible here? Nope, enterprise users would love to pay for extended functionality and less API usage limits.
Upon further investigation, one might surmise that Twitter in Japan simply has a more tolerant audience of users willing to pay for what they use. However you look at it, one thing is for sure – Japan clearly not following the US lead with Twitter.
