If Google Goggles can work half as well as described here, Google might finally be onto something that far outshines the stupidity of the real time search craze. The idea of dragging an image into a search box, then doing a query on it would be nothing short of amazing.
Imagine when we come to the point where Google Goggles gets into facial recognition. Maybe even start taking snapshots of written content to check for plagiarism! Clearly the possibilities are endless and exciting, all at the same time.
At this stage though, Google Goggles is best at stuff like wine labels, landmarks and other tested concepts. Hopefully this will be expanded in the near future. Am I excited about all of this? Yes, if it works right. But at this point, I am as skeptical as the next guy. Then again, Google has had some real bombs lately. Google Wave, anyone?
