With Motorola and Apple making people spend hundreds of dollars to carry their phones, Palm carriers have tried a different approach; the low-end smartphone market. With Wal-Mart offering the Palm Pixi for $30 and Wireless Wave offering the Palm Pre for $0, Palm is a better choice for people that would normally settle for a regular flip-phone. The low price doesn’t leave customers a reason to settle for regular phone anymore. Why not get the web and email capability with your phone too instead of that small LG or Samsung phone?
Palm isn’t making much money with this strategy though. They are still struggling to recover from its troubles.
