All this talk of healthcare reform has me yawning and searching around for other, more entertaining stories. This comes from Democracy Now:
In a shocking report, the nation’s five biggest health insurers set an all time record for combined profits last year. The companies are WellPoint, CIGNA, UnitedHealth Group, Aetna Inc. and Humana. The grand total is $12.2 billion.
How did they do it, you ask?
Dropping customers with costly medical needs; diverting spending from medical care to administrative costs and margins; and a higher enrollment in public programs, like Medicare Advantage, that pay insurers higher fees.
Now aren’t you ashamed of yourselves for demanding that your Congresscritters support meaningful healthcare reforms?
