Out of what sounds like a bad dream, it seems that the International Intellectual Property Alliance (IIPA) is attempting to do what was previously thought to be impossible. Seems one lobby group has it in their mind that they are able to impede on our personal freedom due to their perception to open source software as it poses a threat to their proprietary software.
This is utter and complete nonsense. IIPA is clearly either incredibly misinformed, or looking for a world-wide fight they will most surely lose. If I was the IIPA, I’d stick to their typical patent troll duties and leave us alone.
Honestly, i totally understand concern about legitimate issues over real pirated software…software that was licensed as proprietary in nature, license ignored and then used for personal gain later on. But in this case, clearly this is not the issue.
