Foursquare is pointless. No seriously, I fail to understand how anyone can compare it to Twitter or anything like it. Recently Kevin Rose was asked a series of questions on on Foursquare and where it fits into things these days.
The article in question is right to point out that in some ways, Foursquare is a bit like Twitter was in the beginning. But the idea that if Rose is behind it as an investor, that somehow the typical social media fan is going to give a rip is absurd.
Look, I think that the idea of Digg, before it gave way to politics, was a fantastic idea for spreading various tech news stories. But trying to tie oneself to Foursquare based on their fame, is just stupid and not likely to do anything to make Foursquare more fascinating to most people.
