Who says North Korea doesn’t embrace open concepts? Okay, they don’t unless their “leader” gives them the okay to do so. Enter the Red Star OS. Not to be confused with the Death Star, which is likely something to come out later in the year, Red Star OS is basically a Linux distro with just a touch of communist tyranny.

What is surprising, was the lack of any real propaganda. Sure, the anti-virus was built from scratch and could potentially house some kind of spyware, but it seems that the kooky government of North Korea is able to rest easy and avoid further drilling down the message of their “dear leader” any further.

The real downside is that one must have P3 CPU or better in order to use this distro. Apparently North Korea has an abundance of PC resources to power this Linux option, as that is rather excessive for a Linux distro aimed at a country with very little to offer its people.
