This is fairly significant for those in the mainstream, but likely seen as less of a big deal for those of us who have been getting music off of our CDs and Amazon for some time now. Yes, the Ubuntu One music store could be a smash hit and something that, used with Rhythmbox, could spell a few converts for the new service among existing Ubuntu fans.

Bundle this news with the latest Ubuntu now being said to support iPhone music syncing with Rhythmbox, and I can see the Ubuntu One Music store getting a lot of use here in my house for sure. The real question will be: can it do enough to entice even more people over to the Ubuntu side of the fence?

I am also hearing that the iPhone support for Ubuntu is excellent. But I am not hearing much about Banshee, a vastly better program than Rhythmbox overall, supporting the iPhone. In true Novell failing style, we see the Banshee image on the home page showing the incredibly outdated Android Powered G1. Who cares? At least have a modern Android phone on there. Better yet, support the iPhone like Rhythmbox. And if it does, here’s a radical concept – mention this on the home page!
