Consumer Reports has given the Lexus GX 460 a poor rating. The vehicle may be a safety concern. This is another blow to Toyota. The automaker has been battle a public relations nightmare with safety issues of some of its models.
Toyota has stopped sales of this vehicle:
“Toyota temporarily halted sales of its 2010 Lexus GX 460 on Tuesday after Consumer Reports labeled the sport-utility vehicles a “safety risk.”
In a rare move, the influential magazine warned consumers against the vehicles because of the way the car slides during certain maneuvers, noting that those slides could be a prelude to rolling over. The publication has not issued such a warning since 2001.”
It is daunting if one already owns this vehicle. The National Highway Safety Traffic Administration suggests that owners use “care and caution”. It might be a thought to park the vehicle until safety modifications can be implemented. Is it worth the risk to take an unsafe vehicle onto the roads?
