It may be among a software company’s worse nightmares. A security update causes customers unexpected problems. That is what happened with McAfee:

Understandably, customers are furious. It also illustrates the importance of having a recent backup copy (or copies) of your hard drive. Problems can happen, even from a source that you depend upon for computer security.
