If companies want to attract and retain Gen Ys, they need to re-evaluate their recruiting strategies. Gen Ys are very different from baby boomers and Gen Xers. This means the recruiting strategies used to attract and retain baby boomers and Gen Xers likely won’t appeal to Gen Ys.
For example, a standard, generic, email from an employer about a potential position probably won’t appeal to a Gen Y, who likely prefers a more personal touch.
If you need to re-evaluate recruiting strategies, why not start by getting the perspective of actual Gen Ys. Here is a great blog post called Gen Y Recruiting Tips: The Candidate Perspective that talks about some of the specific strategies and techniques you should do when recruiting Gen Ys.
