For a short while today on Twitter there was a simple yet weird bug that let anyone force anyone to follow them. This bug was completely simple and it was found by accident. From information found on Gizmodo, this is what happened.
A Turkish Twitter user followed a list called “Accept.” And he went to go tweet out “Accept pwnz.” This apparently gave him an error message and instead of tweeting, a Twitter user from the name pwnz was now following him.
For how stupid this sounds, it is completely true. It spread like wildfire and everyone was making everyone else follow them until Twitter caught it and everyone’s follower/following count dropped to zero for a short time while Twitter resolved the issue.
